I had a meeting this morning that had me going less than 50 yards from Brown’s Creek north of Stillwater.  I felt obligated to take a look.

I had very low expectations for Brown’s based upon my internet research and word of mouth. This stream lived up to it’s lackluster reputation! I didn’t see or hook a single fish. It gets stocked every spring with 1,000 brown trout, but none were around today. It’s a beautiful little stream that drops quickly into the St. Croix river, but can’t sustain a good population of fish. Water levels were extremely low, the deepest pools I could find were knee deep. I assume it fishes better with fresh fish and spring flows.

I’ll just say this about Brown’s “Buyer Beware”. You win some, you lose some.
